CSF
The California Scholarship Federation (CSF) is an honor organization established for the purpose of fostering high standards of scholarship, service and citizenship on the part of students at California’s high schools. Membership in CSF is neither automatic nor compulsory. It is the responsibility of the student to apply for membership. Eligibility is determined each semester by the grades earned in certain classes and is based on work in grades 10, 11, and 12 only. First semester 10th graders may be eligible as associate members. CSF membership is based on a point system depending on grades and current course enrollment. Students with a GPA of 3.0 or above are eligible for membership.
Semester members are those whose grades and citizenship from the previous semester meet the eligibility standards and who apply during the enrollment period. CSF encourages all students to strive for excellence. Those who earn membership and are members for at least four of their six semesters from sophomore through senior years (one must be during their senior year) attain Life Membership and become what is know as Seal Bearers, meaning that gold seals are affixed to their diplomas. The students are also awarded "lamp" pins, honored to lead the graduates, and wear gold cords during the graduation ceremony
The JSerra community honored its first graduating class in June of 2006. Among those graduates were students bearing the CSF Seal. These individuals found their CSF Life Membership advantageous in gaining scholarships and seeking college/university acceptance. Current JSerra students interested in joining our CSF chapter can obtain a membership application form from the CSF Advisor (Mrs. Cappelletti) or download it at CSF Application. All applications for each qualifying semester must be submitted by the announced and/or posted dates. Late applications are not accepted per CSF by-laws. Transfer students and any students receiving a D or F in any subject are automatically disqualified as per CSF by-laws. If you need assistance or have any questions please contact JSerra’s 2006-2007 CSF Advisor, Mrs. Cappelletti, Room 2228, via email or telephone at (949) 493-9307 Ext. 5068.
