About JSCHS
|
JSerra is a private Roman Catholic high school, sanctioned by the Diocese of Orange, and accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the Western Catholic Education Association, located in historic San Juan Capistrano. At JSerra, students receive a college preparatory education integrated with the traditions and beliefs of the Roman Catholic doctrine. Religious education is a priority, with prayer and worship serving an important role during each day. The school is authentically Catholic, yet warmly ecumenical, and is open to students of all faiths. Teachers are credentialed and/or have advanced academic degrees, and are specially selected for their ability to work well with students and colleagues. The faculty has created a learning environment where students, parents, and administration unite in a quest for knowledge. Parental involvement is encouraged and welcomed. Serving the community is an integral part of our mission and philosophy. JSerra students are encouraged to develop their own personal responsibility and contribute back to the society in which they live. Students must fulfill specified Christian service requirements as a condition for graduation. The use of technology is integrated into our educational program. All teachers and students use laptop computers throughout the school day. Our campus is equipped with wireless network access, to provide students and faculty with essential internet and network resources. Our facilities are among the best in the nation, and include 64 state-of-the-art classrooms, library/media center, bookstore, Chapel, and a new world-class athletic complex. We also offer scholarships based upon academic achievement, leadership, community service, and commitment to the arts. JSerra began student instruction on September 3, 2003. Initial enrollment at the school consisted of approximately 110 freshmen and 50 sophomores. We anticipate having approximately 1,000 students at the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year.
