Safe Home Pledge
The JSerra school community is committed to fostering an alcohol and drug free social environment for our students. As part of this commitment, JSerra encourages parents to participate in the Safe Homes Pledge, the goal of which is to help prevent underage drinking and drug use by providing well supervised alcohol and drug free gathering places for young people.
All parents who are committed to the Safe Homes Pledge are encouraged to sign and return the Pledge form. When you sign the Pledge, you are authorizing the school to point out your participation in the Safe Homes program. Your participation will be indicated in the Student Directory accessed through the Student Portal. Interested parents may refer to the Student Directory for participant phone and address information. Please note that the signed Pledge form will be in effect until your student graduates or transfers to another school (you will not need to sign a new Pledge form each year).
This program is entirely voluntary. The Safe Homes Pledge is not a legal contract; rather, it is intended to demonstrate each participant's good faith commitment to follow the principles set forth therein. You are not creating any additional legal liability for yourself or your household by participating in this program. We hope that the Safe Homes Pledge directory will provide parents with a means to obtain important information regarding the places their children are visiting and give them access to other parents with similar concerns.
Participating parents pledge that they will:
- not serve or knowingly allow minors to consume beer, wine, alcohol, or use illegal drugs at any gathering of minors in their home or on their property;
- not knowingly allow parties or gatherings of minors in their home or on their property when they are not there to supervise;
- actively supervise parties or gatherings of minors in their home or on their property; and,
- communicate with other parents who are concerned about the safety of their children while in their home or on their property.
