Mission Trips

JSerra typically offers two mission trips per year to our sister mission parish in Piura, Peru, taking a yearly total 80-plus students during Thanksgiving and Easter breaks.

Piura is affected by extreme poverty, but thanks to Fr. Joe Uhen, the pastor of Santisimo Sacramento Parish, temporary housing was created so that many individuals and groups all over the world may come and serve his community. With the help of these missionaries, Fr. Joe has been able to provide additional necessary services to the area including a hospice center and a trade school for individuals who cannot afford to attend college.

Our student missionaries build homes and schools, visit orphanages, provide homecare visits, and assemble and delivered food care packages to the poorest of the poor in the adjacent villages to parish. Mission trips are regularly spoken of as the highlight of many JSerra students’ careers, and provide up to 60-70 hours of Christian service per trip.

HOW TO APPLY

Typically, in the fall at the beginning of every academic year, students may apply online to take part in a mission trip. Upon acceptance, they make their payments online.

The application period for this year's trips has closed.

The dates of this year's trips are November 18-25, 2022 and April 6-14, 2023.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for the trip, students must be up-to-date with their service hours.

QUESTIONS?

For more information, contact Ms. Laura Kennedy at lkennedy@jserra.org.

This last April trip here was my eighth with JSerra. We built houses, delivered food, did cleanup after the floods from a month ago, taught English, and helped in the fields. We are truly blessed to be able to visit and thank Padre Jose for this opportunity to interact and help the Peruvian people.
