Faith, Intellect, and Character: Our Priority
At JSerra, we take the formation of our students’ faith and character as seriously as the development of their intellectual life. To that purpose, our all-school Masses on Wednesdays are considered a highly significant and indispensable component of our school culture. Wednesday masses are central to our integral curriculum which aims at forming the entire person, body, spirit and soul. For that reason, absence from the all-school Mass is only excused for grave purposes and the accumulation of unexcused absences results in disciplinary action (see Student Handbook for details).
On Wednesdays, we celebrate an all-school Mass at 10:25 a.m. in the JSerra Pavilion. All students, staff, parents, alumni, and members of the community are invited to attend. This weekly liturgy features dynamic homilies from our chaplain and visiting priests and inspiring music performed by our students, campus ministers, and staff.
Sacrament of Reconciliation
All JSerra students are provided with regular opportunities to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation throughout the school year – and specifically during the seasons of Advent and Lent. The school’s chaplain coordinates the schedules of many visiting priests so that ample time is afforded to each student to receive the spiritual guidance and direction that he or she desires.
As a gift to the San Juan Capistrano community, we also offer almost daily Eucharistic adoration in our campus chapel at 7:15 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays when school is in session. All members of the greater JSerra family are encouraged to make use of this grace-filled opportunity to spend quiet time before our Lord in prayer. Sign-up information is available at the table in the back of the chapel. Drop-in's are welcome!
