At JSerra, academic excellence is paired with intentional character formation and a vibrant Catholic identity.
Prayer and worship are woven into daily life through daily Mass, weekly all-school Mass, retreats, service opportunities, and spiritual mentorship. While proudly Catholic, JSerra warmly welcomes students and families of all faith backgrounds. Our campus is uniquely blessed by the daily presence of a dedicated on-campus chaplain, Dominican Sisters, Norbertine Fathers, and diocesan priests who support the spiritual life of our community.
With approximately 1,250 students and average class sizes of just over 20, students are seen, known, and loved as individuals and integral members of the JSerra family. In the classroom, students are challenged through a college-preparatory curriculum that includes a broad range of Advanced Placement and honors courses, strong academic outcomes, National Merit recognition, and distinctive pathways that allow them to pursue their interests with depth and purpose. This commitment to academic excellence is reflected in JSerra’s college acceptances, scholarship awards, and graduates who are prepared to thrive at the next level.

Greatness looks different for every student, and JSerra creates the environment to help each one discover it.
Students can choose from 28 varsity sports, club athletics, award-winning arts programs, global service opportunities, and leadership programs, including opportunities within our House System, designed to foster belonging and mentorship. Across campus, students excel in athletics, the arts, service, and leadership. Their achievements include league and CIF championships, college athletic commitments, scholarship awards, and meaningful service accomplishments that reflect JSerra’s commitment to forming the whole person.
Whether students are called to serve others, lead in their communities, pursue competitive universities, or discover talents they never knew they had, JSerra helps them become the person Christ created them to be.
Our Story
JSerra was founded in 2003 by visionary families who answered the call to establish a school where students could thrive through exceptional, mission-oriented mentorship and formation of mind, body, and soul.
St. Junípero Serra’s legacy of faith, courage, and service has inspired generations of leaders in Southern California. Named in his honor, JSerra has grown from an inaugural class of 156 students into a thriving community recognized for innovation and excellence.
That entrepreneurial spirit continues today through signature academic opportunities, including four distinguished Magnet Programs in medicine, engineering, business, and law, as well as a Humanities Program that invites students to explore history, literature, philosophy, theology, art, and culture with depth and purpose.
