Returning to Serve: Rachel Wright and Mariclare Coffin Reignite Their JSerra Legacy

JSerra Catholic High School is thrilled to welcome back two of its distinguished alumni, Rachel Wright and Mariclare Coffin, who have returned to campus in the inspiring roles of Campus Ministers. These remarkable women, who once walked the halls as students, now bring their passion, faith, and dedication to the next generation of Lions.

From Students to Mentors

Rachel Wright, JSerra Class of 2018, recalls her high school years fondly. A standout on the girls' lacrosse team and an active member of ASB, Rachel credits her experience at JSerra for shaping her character and drive for excellence. She fondly remembers staff members who profoundly influenced her journey, including Caroline Wilson, who served as both a campus minister and assistant lacrosse coach. Rachel also admires Madame Atighetchi’s patience and kindness, as well as her own father, Athletic Director Chris Ledyard, who has always been a pillar of support and wisdom.

“What’s special about JSerra to me is their focus on character development and their commitment to excellence,” Rachel shares. “Whether through sports, academics, or the arts, there is an intentional focus on developing individuals into respectable young adults while also striving to be the best at their craft.”

Mariclare Coffin, a proud member of the Class of 2020, was a cornerstone of JSerra’s Arts Magnet Program, excelling in dance, choir, musical theater, and campus ministry. For Mariclare, JSerra was more than a school—it was a formative space where she discovered her passions and deepened her faith.

“JSerra will always be the place where I feel that I left childhood and cultivated my passions,” Mariclare reflects. “From traveling to Italy with choir, to countless after-school rehearsals, to finding more of myself in Christ, JSerra remains an integral part of my life.”

A Shared Vision for Campus Ministry

Rachel and Mariclare share a deep commitment to fostering faith and community among JSerra students. They emphasize building authentic relationships and creating spaces where students can encounter Christ in their daily lives.

Mariclare views her role as a gift, saying, “In my experience, intentional encounters with sincere love have deeply impacted my own spiritual formation. Holding myself to be a witness of the faith, I am enjoying creating new joy-filled relationships daily.”

Rachel echoes this sentiment, emphasizing their goal of being approachable and present. “We want students to know we are here for their accomplishments and desire to see them thrive,” she says. “Whether attending games, concerts, or connecting with them at lunch, our mission is to walk alongside them in their journey.”

Both ministers have ambitious goals for Campus Ministry. Rachel dreams of doubling the number of students receiving baptism and inspiring others through the stories of the saints. Mariclare is equally passionate, hoping to lead students to authentic encounters with Christ and nurturing those relationships.

A Glimpse Into Their Lives

Since graduating, both women have continued to pursue their passions and grow in their faith. Mariclare recently graduated from Franciscan University of Steubenville, got engaged to her best friend Ethan, and looks forward to a bright future together. Rachel also graduated from Franciscan University, married her amazing husband Sam in September 2023, and is thrilled to be back at JSerra, combining her love for ministry and her alma mater.

Building the Future Together

Rachel Wright and Mariclare Coffin exemplify the mission of JSerra—living as faith-filled leaders committed to excellence. Their journey from students to campus ministers is a testament to the lasting impact of the JSerra community. Now, they aim to inspire the next generation of Lions to grow in faith, embrace their passions, and rise to their fullest potential.

Welcome home, Rachel and Mariclare! Your JSerra family is blessed to have you back.
