Alex Pahl (née Holmes), an alumna of the JSerra Class of 2007, will be inducted into the JSerra Hall of Fame at the 2nd annual JESPY awards on May 26.
Pahl was a three-sport athlete during her time at JSerra. As a softball pitcher, she was the first to toe the rubber for the program. She also played basketball and was a three-year varsity player on the Girls Volleyball team.
Pahl went on to play softball at UC Davis and was the first female athlete from JSerra to sign with a Division 1 college program for any sport. While at Davis, she was named to five first-team All-Big West conference teams and was Big West Player of the Year her junior season while also being named one of the top 50 players in the NCAA. In her senior season she led the nation in triples.
"Alex was one of the first true elite athletes on our campus -- she was a dominant softball player, both on the mound, and with a bat in her hand," said Principal Eric Stroupe. "She was a team-first athlete in all her sports and a very good student who was popular on campus for the kind way she treated students and teachers alike."
Athletic Director Chris Ledyard said, "Alex was a trailblazer for the JSerra athletic program. She showed the school what it meant to be a multi-sport athlete, while maintaining her grades, and most importantly, being a person of good character. She helped to create the foundation for all the athletic successes that have come after her."
The JESPY (JSerra Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly) Award is an accolade presented by the JSerra Athletics Department to recognize individual and team athletic achievement as well as other sports-related performances during the calendar year preceding a given annual ceremony.
