Alumnus Chase Strumpf Earns All-American Honors

UCLA infielder and JSerra class of 2015 graduate Chase Strumpf earned All-America second team honors from D1Baseball and Perfect Game, announced the publications on Wednesday.

Strumpf, who was also named a second team All-American by Collegiate Baseball earlier this season, ranked top-10 in the Pac-12 after the regular season in 10 offensive categories including batting average, runs scored, RBIs and home runs. He ended the season leading the team in batting average (.363), runs (59), home runs (12), slugging percentage (.633) and on-base percentage (.475). He also drove in 53 runs, recorded 23 doubles and walked 45 times. The Dana Point, Calif. native became the fourth Bruin since 2001 with 50-plus RBIs and 10-plus home runs in a season.

The second baseman also helped lead the Bruins to the best fielding percentage in the Pac-12 with a conference-best 178 assists, while committing just two errors for a .992 fielding percentage.

In two seasons in Westwood, Strumpf is batting .307 with 83 RBIs and 82 runs scored, while also hitting 19 home runs and 32 doubles in 113 games played.
