JSerra Arts Magnet students recently entered the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards and walked off with some Western Regional medals. The nation's longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens was founded in 1923 and includes such notable alumni as photographer
Richard Avedon and artists Andy Warhol and Cy Twombly. Congratulations to the following winners:
John Wang ('21) won a Gold Medal for his photograph titled "Null" (shot in Laguna Beach). This piece will now go on to compete at the national level.
Samantha Collick ('22) won a Silver Medal for her multimedia art titled "Self-Distortion Through Social Media," which utilizes a photo transfer technique and chalk pastels.
Nick Hao ('21) won a Silver Medal for his digital illustration titled "Animal Combination" drawn on his iPad.
