Concert on the Quad Debuts Original Songs and Short Films from Students

Last Saturday's Concert on the Quad featured more than ten bands from JSerra's rock band program, the Jazz Band, the Arts Magnet Orchestra, and the Symphony Orchestra. It was also the dazzling debut of two original songs from JSerra's Music Production class' recently released EP, Until Tomorrow, as well as three original films from students in the school's Filmmaking program.

Concert on the Quad is JSerra's annual outdoor summer-style music festival that signals the end of a school year.

"The kids in the Jazz Band had the opportunity to express themselves with the tools they had and they did. It is one of the most inspiring groups of students that I have had the privilege to work with at JSerra," said Travis King, teacher and drummer/guitarist on many songs in the concert. "And the tacos were good, too!"

David Amrein, Orchestra Director and Filmmaking/Music Production teacher agreed. "It was amazing to see the breadth of talent on display from all of the bands and orchestras. I am also especially proud of my Filmmaking and Music Production students for their massive creativity in producing so many incredible projects!"

Both teachers also expressed that they will miss the seniors for whom this was their last performance at JSerra, but hope that they continue to find joy in music, film, or art for the rest of their lives.
