JSerra DuPont BMP Students Make Finals in First Year at DECA

Four students in JSerra's DuPont Business Magnet Program were finalists in the state career development conference, DECA, with junior Ella Ortiz making the top ten in the Grand Awards session. The other finalists were juniors Lauren Moro and Emma Grevemberg as well as sophomore Madison Huynh.

This was JSerra's first full year participating in DECA. The event took place over three days with more than 2,000 students attending from 47 schools.

"The competition was fierce but our students definitely rose to the challenge and performed amazingly," said DuPont Business Magnet Director Anne Bergman. "They looked and carried themselves so professionally and outdid themselves in every round. We can't wait for next year!"

DECA's mission is to prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management. DECA’s core values and attributes are competence, innovation, integrity and teamwork -- all of which are central to DECA’s mission and purpose in classrooms around the world.
