Senior John Wang Wins National Silver Medal at Scholastic Art Contest

Congratulations to John Wang ('21) for winning the National Silver medal in the Scholastic Art Contest for his photograph titled Null.

Shot at Treasure Island Cove in Laguna Beach in November 2019, the photo was submitted last December and received a Gold Western Regional Medal, which qualified the work to compete at the national level. In Null, Wang seeks to communicate the idea of self-direction and the importance of following one's heart to lead one out of darkness and into the light.

The Scholastic Art Contest is the nation's longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens. Founded in 1923, the contest includes such notable alumni as photographer Richard Avedon and painters Andy Warhol and Cy Twombly.
