JSerra Junior Sophie Tonks Featured by OC Catholic for Service Initiative

JSerra junior Sophie Tonks is being recognized by the Diocese of Orange’s OC Catholic for turning a family conversation about faith and service into something with extraordinary potential.

Alongside her parents, Ian and Januaria (“JJ”) Tonks, Sophie helped launch Charipillar, a platform designed to combine personal wellness with charitable giving. The initiative encourages participants to grow in eight areas of wellness — including physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual health — while raising funds for nonprofit organizations making a meaningful difference in their communities. The family’s vision is ambitious: raise $1 billion for charitable causes by 2036.

For Sophie, who balances cross country, academics, and JSerra’s DuPont Business Magnet Program, the project reflects a commitment to using her gifts in service of others.

“I’m used to the hustle, and I believe you make time for what’s important,” Sophie shared with OC Catholic. “I’m willing to put in the work.”

At the heart of Charipillar is a mission that aligns closely with JSerra’s values: helping others while growing in faith, discipline, and purpose. The platform offers participants structured challenges across eight pillars of wellness and allows them to support nonprofit organizations they care about through fundraising efforts.

What makes Sophie’s story especially meaningful is how deeply it is rooted in faith. In the article, her father shared how watching Sophie live out her faith inspired his own spiritual journey — a powerful reminder that witness often begins at home.

We’re proud to see Sophie using her talents to serve others and lead with purpose.
