After years of seeing brand-new sports equipment go to waste due to changing league regulations, JSerra student Evan Brady was inspired to make a difference and channel his passion for both sports and giving back. As an athlete and baseball pitcher at JSerra, he knew firsthand how important the right gear was in helping players succeed.

Determined to provide equal access to sports for all children, Evan founded Gear2Give, a nonprofit that connects disadvantaged communities with new and gently used equipment. Over the course of two years and dozens of partnerships with local organizations, they’ve collected over 2,000 pieces of gear. Next, the organization plans to expand its reach to support an orphanage in Mexico.

“It’s been a theme in my family to give and do charity work. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve grown up to appreciate those values, and my parents’ favorite saying growing up was, ‘Virtue is its own reward,’” Evan shared.
