Junior Valerie Grimaldo Wins Most Innovative Award from The Academies at Harvard

Congratulations to junior Valerie Grimaldo, who won the award for "Most Innovative" at The Academies at Harvard this past summer for her business plan about bulletproof clothing. She also received a "Recognition of Participation" award.

The Academies are intensive five-day academic enrichment programs for ambitious high school students. They offer a challenging academic experience on Harvard's campus with programs in business, coding, politics, and pre-med.

"The entire experience was extraordinary," Grimaldo said. "Working on the campus at Harvard was inspiring, which encouraged me to have a positive effect towards my creative goal and return home with an award. It also motivated me to keep working hard in school and in my sport."

Grimaldo was nominated to attend the prestigious program by JSerra TV Broadcast Journalism Instructor Sarah Brechbill.

"Valerie was a natural choice," said Brechbill. "She is an outstanding student with creative and hard-working qualities."
