The energy was high and the smiles nonstop as middle school students jumped into a week of discovery, creativity, and community during Lion Engage 2025. Held June 16–20, the program was once again a summer highlight—and a true launchpad for future Lions.

Designed for students entering grades 5–8, Lion Engage offered a hands-on preview of JSerra’s college-prep experience through dynamic classes taught by faculty and guided by student mentors. From law and medicine to art, psychology, and music, this year’s lineup sparked curiosity and built confidence.

“We were blown away by the response,” said Russ Abdulla, JSerra Admissions Coordinator. “Students didn’t just attend—they thrived. They explored new interests, made lasting friendships, and got a real sense of what it’s like to be part of the JSerra community. It’s everything we hoped for and more.”

Highlights from the Week

• Business Magnet: Students became entrepreneurs, learning the basics of marketing, finance, and product development through fun, interactive projects.
• Law Magnet: Participants picked juries, analyzed police reports, and stepped into the courtroom to deliver opening statements and conduct cross-examinations.
• Medical Magnet: Future doctors explored CPR, lab techniques, and advanced tools like body simulators and the Anatomage Table 11.
• Drawing & Painting: Budding artists developed their skills and created original works using a variety of mediums.
• Graphic Design: Students learned digital design basics and created personal projects like album covers or posters.
• Psychology: This course explored mental health and sports psychology through the lens of faith, teaching students mindfulness, gratitude, and how to thrive under pressure.
• Rock Band: Students formed bands, practiced together, and built confidence as performers in a fun, supportive environment.
• TV Broadcasting: Students produced news segments using professional equipment and recorded a live-to-tape broadcast in JSerra’s new studio.
• Athletics: Each afternoon, students participated in a rotation of sports—flag football, sand volleyball, soccer, and track & field—balancing classroom learning with physical activity and team-building.

A Glimpse Into the Future
More than just a summer camp, Lion Engage offers a true taste of life at JSerra—where faith, academics, and leadership come together to shape future Lions.

“One of the best parts of the week is seeing how students grow in just a few days,” Abdulla shared. “They come in a little unsure, and by the end, they’re presenting projects, leading groups, and already talking about coming back.”

With strong interest and nearly every class at capacity, Lion Engage 2025 proved to be more than a success—it’s become a signature part of the JSerra experience, inspiring students and building community one future Lion at a time.
