Seth Mackellar Presented Under Armour All-American Game Jersey

October 13, 2018

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA – JSerra Catholic High School senior Seth MacKellar received his Under Armour All-American Jersey today at his school with his teammates, coaches, and parents in attendance. MacKellar, ranked as the number two long snapper in the country, is the second student from JSerra to be selected to the play in the All-American Game. JSerra Alumni Luke Wattenberg, currently playing offensive lineman for the Washington Huskies, was selected in 2016.

The 6-0, 185 pounder achieved one of the best all time scores at the prestigious Kohl's Kicking Camp held last summer, finishing with the top overall charting score with a perfect 70 out of 70. The athletic Mackellar utilizes an explosive snapping motion which drives the ball with tremendous power bringing his average snap time to .66 seconds.

"Seth is an unbelievable long snapper," exclaimed JSerra Head Coach Pat Harlow. "We have not had to worry at all the last three years about getting a perfect snap back to our kickers on time since he took over the job. Seth was also a pretty good offensive lineman for us his freshmen year and has given us a great look at LB (linebacker) this year at times on the scout team."

Playing four years for the highly competitive Trinity League football team, and three as long snapper, MacKellar earned his Varsity Letter as a Freshman. Following the presentation, which was attended by the entire JSerra football team and coaching staff, MacKellar stated, "This is just great. This shows how much support the team and coaching staff has given me."

MacKellar has had unofficial visits to a number of schools including Washington, Indiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Arizona, and Wisconsin, and an offer from South Carolina, but has not yet to decide on a program to continue his football career in college. When asked if any schools stand out to him, MacKellar replied, "University of Arizona and University of Washington – both have a great campus and great vibe to them."

Coach Harlow remarked, "The most important thing over the last year especially has been the growth and maturity that Seth has worked meticulously on and is paying huge dividends for him now." Harlow continues, "Seth is well liked by his teammates and has shown them great work ethic on and off the field. We could not be prouder of the person Seth has become and we look forward to his bright future."

The Under Armour All-America Game is scheduled for Jan. 3 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla. and will be televised live on ESPN2 at 6 p.m. EST.
