Horizons is a four-year, certificate-based program for students with qualifying learning challenges designed to provide all learners a Catholic educational environment so they may achieve their full potential academically, emotionally, and spiritually.
The "high school experience" is something too often unavailable for many students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They have the same wants and desires as other students, but many high schools do not have the programs available to support them — emotionally, academically, and spiritually. The Horizons Program at JSerra was created to fill this void.
Horizons is truly unique in that students are also provided an opportunity to earn credits toward their high school diploma. While Horizons students will not earn their diploma from JSerra or in the traditional four-year timeline, they will have the opportunity to earn high school credit in select classes that can be transferred to a post-secondary institution and applied toward a GED.
