Helping Every Student Thrive

We believe every student is uniquely gifted and called to pursue excellence.

Rooted in our Catholic mission, the Learning and Academic Support ("LAS") Department partners with students, families, teachers, and counselors to provide individualized support that fosters growth in faith, intellect, and character.

Our goal is to help students become confident, independent learners by developing the academic skills, executive functioning strategies, and self-advocacy needed to succeed in high school, college, and beyond.

Whether a student requires formal accommodations or targeted academic coaching, our team is committed to helping every Lion discover their God-given potential and thrive within our Christ-centered learning community.

Two Pathways of Support

Every student's learning journey is unique. Whether your student has a documented learning difference or would benefit from additional academic coaching, JSerra offers personalized support designed to help students build confidence, strengthen essential skills, and achieve success both inside and outside the classroom.

JSerra offers two levels of academic support to meet the diverse needs of our students:

Student Educational Resource Program (SERP) provides individualized accommodations and specialized support for students with documented learning differences.

Academic Coaching Program (ACP) offers executive functioning and academic coaching for students who would benefit from additional guidance in organization, time management, study skills, and learning strategies.

Student Educational Resource Program (SERP)

Designed for students with documented learning differences who benefit from individualized accommodations and specialized academic support.

Students enrolled in SERP work with our Learning & Academic Support team to develop strategies for academic success while learning to become confident, independent self-advocates.

Students may receive:

  • Individual Learning Plan (ILP) based on educational documentation
  • Classroom and testing accommodations
  • Executive functioning instruction
  • Organization and study skills support
  • Individual or small-group mentoring
  • Collaboration among families, teachers, counselors, and support staff

Our goal is not simply to provide accommodations, but to equip students with the skills and confidence to thrive throughout high school, college, and beyond.

Academic Coaching Program (ACP)

Designed for students who would benefit from additional academic guidance and executive functioning support but do not require formal accommodations.

The Academic Coaching Program helps students strengthen the habits and strategies that lead to long-term academic success through individualized coaching and goal setting.

Students focus on skills such as:

  • Time management
  • Organization
  • Study strategies
  • Planning and prioritization
  • Executive functioning
  • Self-advocacy and accountability

Students are referred to ACP through JSerra's counseling and academic support teams based on individual need, allowing support to be tailored throughout their high school experience.

A Partnership for Student Success

Supporting students is a collaborative effort. Our Learning & Academic Support team partners closely with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators to create an environment where students are challenged, encouraged, and equipped to reach their full potential. Through regular communication and individualized support, we help students develop the academic skills, confidence, and independence needed to flourish at JSerra and beyond.

Taking the Next Step

Families interested in SERP are encouraged to connect with our Director of Learning & Academic Support, Lauren Yax, early in the admissions process. Together, we'll review your student's needs and determine the most appropriate pathway of support.

Admissions Process & Required Documentation

Families interested in the Student Educational Resource Program (SERP) are encouraged to begin the conversation early in the admissions process. Because every student's learning profile is unique, applications are reviewed individually to ensure we can provide the appropriate level of support for long-term success at JSerra.

Application Process

To be considered for SERP, families should:

  1. Submit an application to JSerra Catholic High School through the standard admissions process.
  2. Contact the Director of Learning & Academic Support to discuss your student's educational needs.
  3. Provide current psychoeducational documentation for review.
  4. Participate in an individualized review to determine whether SERP is the appropriate level of support for your student.

Admission to JSerra and acceptance into SERP are separate review processes, allowing our team to thoughtfully evaluate each student's needs and determine how we can best support their success.

Required Documentation

As part of the review process, families are asked to submit:

  • A current psychoeducational evaluation completed by a licensed psychologist or qualified educational diagnostician
  • Any applicable educational plans or accommodation documentation
  • Additional academic records that may help our team better understand your student's learning profile

Because every student is unique, documentation is reviewed on an individual basis. If updated information or additional documentation is recommended, our team will communicate directly with your family throughout the process.
