Swimming is back in the mix with High-Profile club Competitions

Junior Kenneth Woodsum competed in the 2018 Speedo Winter Junior Championships in Austin, Texas last week. Woodsum, a 2018 CIF finalist, qualified in the 100 backstroke (51.39), 200 backstroke (1:54.65), and 200 butterfly (1:54.98). Woodsum swam to his personal best times in all 3 events.

The Winter Junior Championships competition is a highly competitive meet and is a stepping stone to the US Nationals and 2020 US Olympic Trials.

Freshmen Lauren Ciborowski and Makena Partington competed locally at the Winter Age Group Championships in Golden West.

Partington swam close to her personal bests in the 50 (26.40) and 100 (56.94) freestyles but really shined in the 100 (1:08.49) breaststroke, where she qualified for the finals, and 200 IM (2:17.99), dropping 2.4 and 2.3 seconds respectfully. Her time in the 100 breaststroke would have qualified for the 2018 CIF Championships.

Ciborowski also had a great meet, swimming just off her bests in the 50 (26.67) and 100 (58.29) freestyles, and dropping 3.5 seconds in the 100 (1:03.87) backstroke and 6.9 seconds in the 200 backstroke (2:19.10). Her breakout 200 backstroke time left Ciborowski only 2 seconds outside of qualifying for the finals.
