The goal of the Visual Arts Department is to recognize and develop each student's God-given creative talents. We see art as a means of exploring, discovering, and expressing one's unique and valuable vision of the world. Our Visual Arts curriculum of Fine and Digital Arts, from foundation level to AP Studio Art, emphasizes skill development as a foundation for students to examine meaning and intention in artmaking.
Each Spring the Visual Arts students enter Orange County's Imagination Celebration 1,000 Pieces of Art Competition. This year twenty-seven works by JSerra's talented students in Drawing and Painting, Photography, and Graphic Design were chosen for exhibition at South Coast Plaza. In addition, the work presented here was honored as "Best of the Best" and included in the Junior Art Exhibit at the Laguna Beach Festival of the Arts. Click on an image for more details.
The Visual Arts classes at JSerra have always been the classes I look forward to the most and feel most excited and passionate about. They're not always the easiest, but they're always the most rewarding."
