The thing I like most about art classes at JSerra is the constructive criticism that we receive on each project. Through the guidance of my teachers and peers, I have learned to approach creating art with new techniques and an open mind.

Creativity Inspired by Purpose
We believe creativity is a gift from God, and every student has a unique story to tell through art. JSerra's Visual Arts program nurtures artistic growth by combining technical instruction with opportunities for creative exploration across fine arts, digital arts, photography, graphic design, and AP Art and Design.
As students refine their craft, they learn to communicate ideas, observe the world with curiosity, and create meaningful work that reflects both artistic excellence and personal expression.

Meet the Department Chair, Bradford Smith
Bradford Smith is an artist and educator whose work is deeply inspired by sacred art, California Impressionism, and the beauty of God's creation. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from California State University, Fullerton, and his Master of Fine Arts from Laguna College of Art and Design.
Prior to teaching at JSerra, Mr. Smith worked as a commercial artist, designing toys and packaging for brands including Burger King, Crayola, Kellogg's, and Kohl's. He has traveled extensively throughout Europe studying religious art and architecture, experiences that continue to shape his artistic vision. His work also includes the design of the meditation station tiles at the House of Prayer for Priests in Orange County.
As a teacher, Bradford is passionate about helping students build strong artistic foundations while discovering their own creative voice through thoughtful observation, technical excellence, and purposeful expression.
