At JSerra Catholic High School, we encourage students to explore their creative sides by providing them with ample opportunities to participate in just about every aspect of the Performing or Visual Arts — whether it's in front of or behind a camera, canvas, or curtain. Students may concentrate on the Arts through the Arts Magnet Program or take Arts classes that appeal to them; they may even satiate their creative needs by participating in such activities as our improvisational comedy group, theatre productions, choir, after-school rock band, and more.

Students are welcome to engage with more than one activity; in fact, many of our students balance their participation in the Arts with rigorous AP and honors academics, Magnet Programs, and/or Athletics.

Arts Magnet Students Take Part in Memory Project

The Advanced and AP Drawing and Painting students in the Arts Magnet Program recently completed an amazing global outreach project. The project is sponsored by a non-profit called The Memory Project, which is a program in which U.S. high school art students are asked to create portraits of children in war-torn countries (particularly countries that have had difficult relationships with the US).

Art Magnet's Hannah Weinmeister Brings Free Dance Program to Youth

When JSerra junior Hannah Weinmeister founded her nonprofit, Hannah's Dancers, earlier this year, she had no idea the immediate impact it would make on so many young students. Hannah's Dancers teaches a variety of dance forms — such as jazz, tap, and ballet — to at-risk children at the Via Positiva Branch of the Boy & Girls Clubs of Capistrano Valley. The tuition? Free-of-charge.

Junior Emily Hazelip Wins Two Art Prizes at OC Fair

Congratulations to junior Emily Hazelip, who won two prizes in the "Young Adult Art" category at the Orange County Fair this past summer. Both her Cast of an Eye oil painting and Hammer charcoal drawing received 2nd Place.

The Arts Department at JSerra not only helped me find my passion for art, it helped me to achieve artistic excellence throughout my high school career.
