JSerra's Anthony Grover will face against Rubidoux's Kevin Ramos for the first time this season in a matchup of two of Southern California's top runners Saturday at the Mt. SAC Invitational.
JSerra works hard to live up to its mantra of faith, intellect, and character. There is not a separate mantra for athletics.
With 23 CIF teams, 7 Club sports, a wide variety of high school and youth camps, and a state-of-the-art 30-acre athletic campus, we focus on building character and community in our competitive athletic programs.Aristotle stated, "Moral excellence comes about as a result of habit. We become just by doing just acts, temperate by doing temperate acts, brave by doing brave acts." Athletic excellence comes about as a result of habit as well. Athletes do not determine their success — they (and their coaches) determine their habits, and their habits determine their success.
In the short time Lion Nation has been alive, our success is evident in all that we do. Legendary basketball coach John Wooden once said, “Success is never final, failure is never fatal. It’s courage that counts.” Our JSerra family cultivates this habit daily — from the courage of pioneering this institution to the courage necessary to step into battle on the athletic fields.
Our student-athletes compete in games, matches, races, tournaments, and championships with the courage that has become a signature of Lion Nation. As members of the JSerra community, let us continue to serve one another with the same passion and excellence.
