Growing in Virtue
The Dominican Sisters play a vital role in the faith formation of our students through JSerra’s Virtue Program. Rooted in the Catholic intellectual tradition and inspired by the Dominican charism, the program helps students develop the habits and character necessary to live lives of faith, integrity, and purpose. Through classroom instruction, mentorship, and authentic witness, the Sisters guide students in cultivating virtues that strengthen their relationship with Christ and prepare them to lead with wisdom, compassion, and courage both on campus and beyond.
Why Should Students Learn About Virtues?
Growing in virtue is at the heart of becoming the person God created each student to be. Through the practice of virtues, students deepen their relationship with Christ, develop the wisdom to recognize and choose what is good, and learn to treat every person with dignity and compassion. As virtue becomes a habit, it shapes stronger families, lasting friendships, and lives marked by integrity, joy, and authentic happiness. More than a program, virtue formation is an essential part of preparing students to flourish in faith, character, and everyday life.

I am always thrilled to learn about a new virtue because I know it will help me in my faith journey and to have true peace and joy in my life.

My favorite class activity this year was the Virtue of the Week. It was nice to take time to learn how to be more virtuous people. Sister usually gave us a challenge to do at home related to being more virtuous. I took those very seriously and always participated.
