Equestrian

• The Equestrian Team is an opportunity for its athletes to be recognized by the school for their commitment to the Equestrian sport. The team provides its members with comradery in a sport that is typically individual. 

• Members of the Equestrian Team are required to compete in a jumper, hunter, dressage, or western event at least three times a year. While they are a united team on campus, they must have their own horse and coach that they train with individually. 

• The purpose of the Equestrian team is to cultivate discipline, responsibility, and horsemanship skills through participation in the team’s events, support of each other's personal riding goals, and to meet the training and show requirements. Additionally, our team seeks to use our love for horseback riding to bring glory to God. We strive to connect students with a community of classmates who share a passion for the sport. By upholding standards of high athletic performance with personal character, our team contributes to the development of its members both in and out of the arena.

Membership

• Members may earn Varsity Letters for their participation on the Equestrian Team. Members will receive five (5) units of PE credit if they ride for a full year on the Equestrian Team and meet the minimum requirements.
• To receive PE Credits for a year, each rider must log over 100 hours of training on their own, ride in three 3 sanctioned shows, attend all team meetings & mandatory team events, and pay their registration fee.
• PE credit may only be earned by participation in programs run through JSerra. Therefore, students who ride privately — regardless of the hours they put in and the number of events at which they show — will not receive PE credit.
