Mu Alpha Theta

MAθ welcomes any JSerra student in a full year (not Summer Sschool), classroom based (not online), higher-level mathematics course with all quarter and semester grade minimums of an "A" or a weighted "A" to apply for membership. Membership is not automatic with course grades; an application must be submitted within the application period with no retro-active memberships granted.

Membership is granted after math course grades are verified, an annual membership fee of $10 is paid, and candidate names are submitted to the national office.

MAθ members are required to keep grade minimums their 4th quarter and 2nd semester in the qualifying mathematics course to be considered a "member in good standing."

Members need to re-apply each year with their full year (not summer school), classroom based (not online), higher level mathematics course with all quarter and semester grade minimums to continue as a member in the JSerra Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society.

Members with any violation of academic integrity will lose their membership in Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society.

Members must perform a minimum of 10 hours math tutoring service. Service hours are to be completed before re-applying to continue in the JSerra Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society. Math tutoring service hours must be recorded in the online form and the minimum 10 tutoring hours must be performed during the academic year (August-March) in which the member is in good standing.

The Mu Alpha Theta, MAθ, graduation cord (looped yellow & light blue) is awarded and worn by graduating seniors if they have met the following criteria:

1. Members have a minimum of three upper-level mathematics courses that meet the grade qualifications for Mu Alpha Theta. An application must be submitted for each course.
2. Members must remain "in good standing."
3. Members must complete and record a minimum of two years of Service Hours with MAθ membership.

Annual $10 to be paid after course grades on the application are verified. An email notification for payment will be sent.
