MEDICAL MAGNET PROGRAM
The JSerra Medical Magnet Program introduces students to health sciences and technology, providing the unique opportunity to explore various disciplines within the medical field — both in the classroom and off-site in a hospital facility.
Founded by Dr. Betty Cappelletti in 2010, this four-year course of studies includes classroom instruction in advanced math, life, and health science combined with clinical knowledge provided by working professionals in a hospital setting at MemorialCare Saddleback Medical Center in Laguna Hills.
The Medical Magnet curriculum is rigorous and mandates students to enroll in double science and math courses compared to the typical high school science-based curriculum.
Classroom instruction is supplemented with lectures, observed operations, and individual meetings with eminent medical professionals such as prominent physicians, nurses, emergency/operating staff, medical/radiological technicians, and medical management executives. Students graduating from this challenging program will have a solid foundation in science and math applicable for future careers in medicine.
4-Year Plan
The Medical Magnet curriculum provides students with opportunities to explore various medical disciplines while allowing them to enjoy other interests such as sports, the arts, clubs, and more.

"Allowing us to have hands-on experience so early on gave me the insight into my specific fields of interest. In medical school interviews, I would tell them about the Magnet program and the interviewers were always blown away as it's not commonly offered."
