Founded by Dr. Betty Cappelletti in 2010, the Medical Magnet Program has provided students who are seriously considering a career in medicine the unique opportunity to explore various disciplines within the medical field — both in the classroom and off-site in a hospital facility.
The four-year course of studies includes classroom instruction in advanced math, life, and health science combined with clinical knowledge provided by working professionals in a hospital setting at MemorialCare Saddleback Medical Center in Laguna Hills.
The program’s curriculum is rigorous and mandates students to enroll in double science and math courses compared to the typical high school science-based curriculum.
Classroom instruction is supplemented with lectures, observed operations, and individual meetings with eminent medical professionals such as prominent physicians, nurses, emergency/operating staff, medical/radiological technicians, and medical management executives. Students graduating from this challenging program will have a solid foundation in science and math applicable for future careers in medicine.
