VIRTUE OF THE WEEK: TRUSTWORTHINESS
Trustworthiness is acting in a way that inspires confidence; being reliable. Let's all work on trustworthiness by 1) being honest with our parents/family members about where we're going and what we're doing, 2) following family and school rules even when nobody is looking, 3) following through on our responsibilities such as chores and errands, 4) speaking well of our friends and family members, and 4) completing all homework and tests honestly. See our website for more information about trustworthiness at jserra.org/virtues.

SPRING REGISTRATION FOR ONLINE COURSES: DEC. 1 TO JAN. 13
Registration is now open for online spring courses and will close Friday 1/13. To register for an online course, students must meet with their Academic and College Counselor to discuss course options, expectations, and the rigor of online education.
Online courses provide flexibility for students, with the expectation of consistent student participation, along with timely submission of assessments to ensure students are engaged and learning. This provides students the opportunity to receive ongoing feedback while demonstrating their learning through required checkpoints and Discussion-Based Assessments (DBAs). All students are required to take a proctored final exam on campus for their online course. All coursework, including DBAs, must be completed at least one day prior to the final exam date (Friday 4/28 for Advanced Placement [AP] final exams; Thursday 5/18 for College Prep [CP] final exams).
Each semester-length course is $725 and must be paid at the time of registration. Click here to view the Online Course Catalog and Online Parent-Student Handbook.
For further questions, please reach out to your Academic and College Counselor or the Director of Online Learning, Dr. Mary Beth Boyer, at email@example.com.
TRANSCRIPTS REQUEST PROCESS FOR SENIORS
Seniors, due to the upcoming Christmas break, you must request all initial transcripts and teacher recommendations in Naviance no later than Monday 12/12 for any of your January deadlines to ensure that the deadlines are met. Requests will NOT be honored during the break. Also, please note:
- Do not wait for your documents to be submitted to your colleges prior to submitting your application — your application submission is the one firm deadline for colleges!
- If you are requesting a teacher recommendation for the first time, please also email your teacher to let them know that you will need their letter of recommendation for a January deadline.
JUNIOR STUDENT AND PARENT NIGHT THIS WEDNESDAY
Juniors and parents of juniors, come join the Counseling Department from 5:30-7:00 p.m. this Wednesday 12/7 in Busch Hall Center Room to learn how to research colleges, request letters of recommendation through Naviance, and best prepare for your future college applications. RSVP here. We look forward to seeing you there!
PSAT/NMSQT®: NOW WHAT? VIRTUAL WORKSHOP FOR SOPHOMORES
Sophomores, join us on Thursday 12/8 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for an engaging virtual presentation regarding what to do next with your PSAT scores. National Merit Scholarships aren't the only things that make PSAT scores valuable. A student's performance on the PSAT/NMSQT® is a powerful indicator of ACT/SAT readiness, and PSAT results can be a valuable tool to inform ACT/SAT preparations — if you know how to use them. Instead of throwing that score report away, have it out in front of you because we will cover how to use your PSAT/NMSQT® results to identify not only whether to take the ACT or SAT but also how to build your best plan for success. Register today to save your spot!
SEMESTER 2 COURSE CHANGE FORM DUE JAN. 13
