Semester membership in CSF is neither automatic nor compulsory. It is the student’s responsibility to apply for membership before the announced deadline each semester. Late applications are not accepted, and retro-active memberships are never granted per CSF by-laws. Students are expected to carry out the application process without parental assistance but may direct inquiries to the moderator via email to CSF@jserra.org.

Applications for membership are accepted after final semester grades have been recorded on a student’s transcript (typically three weeks into the following semester). Semester grades from 10^th-12^th courses are used to qualify for membership. Summer school course grades or community college course grades are not used to qualify for semester membership.

CSF membership is granted to students who meet the minimum point requirement (10 points) based on the course grade (A-3pts, B-1pt) and based on the course list. Information to determine qualifying points can be found on the application. Semester applications are automatically rejected with a D or F in any course.

To qualify for CSF membership, follow these guidelines:

1. A student must have taken between three (3) to five (5) courses from LISTS I, II and III; with no course grade of D, F, or WF from any of the student’s enrolled courses for previous completed semester.
2. You must earn a minimum of 10 points from the previous completed semester’s grades to qualify for membership. The points must meet the following criteria:
   • The first 4 or more points must be from LIST I
   • The first 7 or more points (including the four points described in “a”) must be from LISTS I and II.
   • The remaining points may come from any LIST (I, II or III).
3. You must use no more than 5 courses to qualify.
4. No CSF points are given for physical education, courses taken in lieu of physical education, subjects repeated to improve a grade, courses involving clerking and office/teaching assisting, summer school courses, college courses (courses that do not qualify for graduation credit), and courses taken on a pass/fail basis
5. CSF points are granted as follows:
   • A grade of ‘A’ = 3 CSF points
   • A grade of ‘B’ = 1 CSF point.
   • One additional point shall be granted for a grade of ‘A’ or ‘B’ in an AP or Honors course from Lists I and II, up to a maximum of two such points per semester.
   • A grade of ‘C’ = O points
   • A grade of ‘D’ or ‘F’ in any course, even in one you cannot use to qualify, disqualifies you from membership at this time.

CSF Seal-bearer status: A minimum of four semesters of membership are necessary (of the six semesters from sophomore through senior year) of which at least one semester is based on the semester grades from senior year (12th grade) courses to become a CSF Life member (or Seal-bearer).

Freshman cannot apply.

Sophomores can apply in January, using their 10th grade Fall semester course grades.

Juniors can apply and/or re-apply both semesters.

Seniors can only re-apply. New senior applicants cannot qualify for Seal-bear status. Seniors needing a fourth semester of membership can submit an expedited application using their 12th grade Spring semester course grades at the end of April, before final senior grades are posted, with a teacher grade verification form.

Members receiving a poor citizenship report from the Dean's office will lose their membership status for that semester.

Within each semester, members are classified as "Active" or "Inactive." CSF members are responsible for monitoring their own status of membership.

There are three requirements to have an "active member" status for each semester:

First Requirement

• A minimum of four (4) approved community service hours are required each semester to maintain "Active member" status.
• The community service hours must be dated and completed within the deadline for the semester of active membership to be valid and must be posted in X2VOL under the "CSF JSerra" group.
• The community service hours must be unique to CSF and may not be counted for any other Christian service or community service requirement for another organization.

Second Requirement

Attendance at monthly meetings is monitored and required. Reasons for an absence at a monthly meeting must be emailed to CSF@jserra.org before the scheduled meeting time. Members are only allowed one (1) uncleared absence or two (2) cleared absences before their semester member status is changed to "Inactive."

Third Requirement

The third requirement is $10 semester dues for active membership.

CSF Seal-bearer Award: Granted to CSF members with a minimum of 4 semesters of qualifying membership, with at least one semester from senior year course grades. CSF Seal Bearers are honored and recognized with a gold seal on their diploma and a CSF lamp pin to indicate Life Membership Status.

CSF Seal-bearers with Active membership status: Active membership status must be for each qualifying semester of membership for Seal-bearer status. In addition to the gold seal on the diploma and a CSF lamp pin, a gold stole is awarded and worn during the graduation ceremony.
