JSerra Campus Ministry provides a list of suggested organizations with which the students can work via a Christian Service software called x2VOL. Students are welcome to suggest other organizations not listed on the school’s list, but such opportunities must align with the Christian service goals and be approved first by Campus Ministry.
Our aim is to assist JSerra students in identifying charities for which students can perform Christian service and practice the type of love that we are made for. There are many sources for Christian Service projects — including but not limited to:
- Classroom sign-ups
- Service organization days
- JSerra leaders spearheading project
HALLOWEEN BASKETS FOR FOSTER SHELTER
Create Halloween basket gifts for youth at a foster shelter in the Inland Empire. Baskets should be Halloween-themed and boy/girl-specific. Each basket can be different and creativity is encouraged. Baskets are due by Friday, October 22, 2021 to the Campus Ministry office. Students can earn 1 hour for each basket assembled and up to 10 hours total. Students must sign up here to participate. Ideas of what to assemble can be found on the sign-up link. For questions, please contact Zach Eckert at firstname.lastname@example.org.
SUPPORTING THE MILITARY
In honor of all who serve our country in the armed forces, students are able to earn service hours that support the military. For a variety of options, please visit Operation Gratitude and Operation Help a Hero to learn more about ways to volunteer and help those who serve our country.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
Every Christmas, Samaritan’s Purse send tens of thousands of shoeboxes stuffed with gifts to children around the world. Processing centers nationwide collect and prepare the shoeboxes for shipment. JSerra students may volunteer at the regional processing center in Fullerton (reservations fill up extremely quickly!). Registration for the Fullerton processing center opens on Thursday 9/30. For more details and questions, please visit and register at Operation Christmas Child.
SURF AND TURF THERAPY
Surf and Turf Therapy is looking for high school students to volunteer with their organization. They provide therapy services targeting traditional, functional goals using non-traditional approaches, including surfing, horseback riding and community-based activities. Click here for more information on their incredible organization. To register as a volunteer or for any questions, please email email@example.com.
TEENS FOR ORANGEWOOD
Teens for Orangewood is a JSerra club that partners with the Orangewood Foundation, which provides foster care and community youth services. Students can earn service hours by packing school backpacks with supplies for teenagers through Orangewood. Simply pack a school backpack with the following supplies: calculator, pens, pencils, ruler, notebooks, binders, binder dividers, planner, colored pencils, markers, and highlighters. Students will earn 1 hour per packed backpack, plus 2 hours for purchase and drop-off of all backpacks. Please deliver backpacks to Mr. Zach Eckert's Campus Ministry Office (and check-in to receive credit) next week from Monday 8/23 to Friday 8/27. For questions, please contact Mr. Eckert at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Make a life-saving paracord bracelet for the military or first responders. Please visit Operation Gratitude for more details on how to purchase, make, and mail a paracord kit. Students can earn 1 hour for every 5 bracelets purchased, made, and mailed.
