Voice Coaching Lessons

Voice lessons with Mr. Stephen Amundson take place on Fridays after school at the schedule timed coordinated with Mr. Amundson. Each lesson is 30 minutes long and costs $35. Lessons run weekly until the end of the semester and take place in the Choir Room.

Each 30-minute lesson includes:

  • Healthy vocal and warm-up techniques
  • Guidance in repertoire selection
  • Detailed study of the voice as an instrument and the body as a form of expression
  • Performance technique in different genres selected by the student (e.g., jazz, contemporary, classical, and musical theater)
  • Accompaniment recordings

It is imperative that you are on time for your lesson. Regardless of how late you are, the lesson will end on time. All cancellations require at least 48 hours notice.

About the Voice Coach

Stephen Amundson has been a part of many theatrical productions as a Musical Director, an accompanist, and/or an actor. You may have seen his work last year as Musical Director for A Catered Affair & The Last Five Years (The Friends of Torrance Theatre), Hello Dolly! & Guys and Dolls (Los Alamitos High School), and The Little Mermaid (MYART) to name a few. Mr. Amundson’s recent acting credits include playing Jesus in his third production of Godspell (His Place Church) — the first as the accompanist in the band (Chino Community Theater), and the second as the MD & accompanist (Cabrillo Playhouse) — as well as two separate performances of The Little Mermaid (one as Prince Eric at The Grove Theatre and the other as Chef Louis at MYART. He has also sung in onstage choirs for Swan Lake: The Musical (Montalban Theatre), The Hunchback of Notre Dame (La Mirada Theatre), and the Kingdom Hearts World Tour Concert (Dolby Theatre). He studied Musical Theatre at AMDA College & Conservatory, graduating with a BFA. A native of Orange County, Mr. Amundson now lives in Long Beach. He is currently acts as the accompanist for the Musical Theatre Techniques course at Cypress College and maintains a thriving private voice studio in Cerritos.
